Waxed cords are particularly grippy and stable, while unwaxed or silky shiny cords create a softer look. Depending on the project, you can choose the right cord for bracelets, necklaces, pendants, and phone & bag chains.
Whether waxed thread, unwaxed thread, or silk thread - each type of thread has its own advantages. While waxed thread is particularly suitable for stable knots and cabochon settings, softer threads create an elegant and flowing look in jewelry pieces.
Various yarns are suitable for macrame depending on the project. Linhasita's waxed cord is particularly popular as it is strong, durable, colorfast, and easy to knot.
In addition to classic yarns, other waxed yarns, polyester threads, or synthetic jewelry yarns can also be used. It is important that the yarn can be singed. The higher the quality of the yarn, the nicer the singe point. With cheaper yarns, the singe point may turn dark.
The required yarn length depends heavily on the project and the knot used. For micro-macrame jewelry, about four to six times the desired length is usually needed.
