Braided yarn is the best choice for macramé. For micro macramé, we distinguish between waxed and unwaxed yarn; both work beautifully. You should also have scissors, a brush, a mat for brushing, and a clipboard with T-pins handy. For a more elaborate work of art, you can also use rings or wooden beads and natural materials like wooden sticks, birch discs, or bamboo.
Macramé consists of various knots. The following knots are among the most important: anchor knot, reef knot, wave knot, wrap knot, rib knot, and lark's head knot. There are different variations of almost all basic knots, such as the twisted reef knot or the diagonal or vertical rib knot.
